I was born in 1978 and I live in Leeds. I graduated from UMIST (now the University of Manchester) in 2001 with a software engineering degree. Interests include computers (how did you guess?) and music. Sports wise I try to get to the Thai boxing gym twice a week and out on the mountain bike when I can. I used to occasionally go fell running, but it's not the same when you live in a inner city suburb.
The music I listen to tends to be the more extreme end of metal. Current favourites include Anthrax, Hatebreed, Fear Factory, Faith No More, Kreator and System of a Down. The music I play includes some of these (where it sounds OK played on a keyboard), but also a fair amount of other music. One of my favourite composers of piano music is Scott Joplin. I also enjoy just playing around with a keyboard to see what kind of sounds I can get it to make.
As far as work goes, I'm a software developer at a large telecoms company. However, most of my recent projects have involved design or technical writing with not much in the way of programming. Unlike a lot of techies I have a decent A Level in English Language (grade A if anyone's asking) as well as a lot of experience in MS Word (from previous jobs and from having to write lots of essays for English as well as the performing arts AS level that I did), so I don't mind writing. One thing I would say is that far too many people use MS Excel when they should use a proper database. It might look like just the thing to create a list, but it is a pain when you're trying to get information from several sheets or if someone gets confused and puts things in the wrong cell
